Peppercorn Kogane cashmere

I have woven two scarves using 2/20 Kogane cashmere yarns hand-dyed peppercorn. I used the two patterns as used for the previous two scarves, but this time in a single colour. Both scarves are shorter than my recent batches of scarves.
The first is 1470mm x 170mm and weighs 60g. The second is 1540mm x 180mm and weighs 63g.. This means I now have 11 cashmere scarves ready for the Perth Upmarket at UWA on 4 March.

Tailored Strands Alpaca

To make a change I have woven two alpaca scarves in a two-coloured pattern with a difference. Both are using 4-ply Tailored Strands Alpaca yarns.
The first is in Wisteria and Lavender, is 1950mm x 215mm and weighs 157g. The pattern gives an interesting swirling effect and is different on both sides. The second is in Mid Grey and Claret, is 1830mm x 230mm and weighs 170g. Again each side of the scarf is different. The two scarves will be on my stall at the Perth Upmarket on 4 March at UWA.

Violet and Black/White cashmere

This time I have woven two scarves using a pattern with a larger repetitive emblem. Both are in 2/20 Kogane cashmere yarn.
The first is using an hand-dyed violet colour and is 1880mm x 210mm and weighs 81g. The second is using a commercial black and white yarn and is 1760mm x 200mm and weighs 77g. The contrast achieved by using the black and white yarns clearly show the two different sides of the pattern. Both scarves will be on sale on my stall at the Perth Upmarket to be held at UWA on 4 March 2012.

Wattle and Sun Orchid hand-dyed cashmere

Two more scarves have been woven using hand-dyed Kogane 2/20 cashmere yarn, with the same pattern used for both.
The first is dyed Wattle and is 1770mm x 195mm and weighs 73g. The second is dyed Sun Orchid and is 1730mm x 200mm and weighs 72g. The two close-up photos are of the two different sides of the same pattern. Both scarves will be on sale on my stall at Perth Upmarket to be held at UWA on 4 March 2012.

Dusk and Meadow hand-dyed Kogane cashmere

Have been to the UK for a short two-week break. Now I have to focus on some skeins of Kogane cashmere yarn recently hand-dyed in six different colours. The first two colours have been woven in the same pattern.
The first is dyed Meadow and is 1770mm x 195mm and weighs 74g. The second is dyed Dusk and is 1710mm x 195mm and also weighs 74g. Both are very soft cashmere and amongst the best you can find! Both scarves will be on sale on my stall at the Perth Upmarket at UWA on 4 March 2012.

Pierrot Yarn Fleur

This time I have woven a thick Pierrot Yarn called Fleur which is 67% acrylic, 24% wool and 9% nylon. I used this yarn as the warp and tied the strands together with a peachy coloured 2-ply cashmere from Knitter's Addition as the weft. The interest in the scarf is in the colour variations in the warp. The scarf is long, being 1920mm x 205mm, and weighs 154g.
It will be on sale on my stall at the Perth Upmarket on Sunday 27 November at UWA.

4 Yarns from Japan

Since my return from a four-week tour of China/Cambodia/Vietnam I have woven four scarves from yarns sourced from Japan.

The first is using a lavender and black 80% polyester/20% nylon yarn as the warp and a thin black silk yarn as the weft. The finished product is a delicate looking scarf with blossom on a fine mesh. It is 1750mm x 200m and weighs 76g.

The second scarf is a long green/yellow/blue fluffy acrylic scarf 2100mm x 190 mm and weighing 131g. It is bulky but very soft.

The third is another fluffy scarf. This time in red, yellow and green polyester. It is shorter and lighter being 1530mm x 150mm and weighing 84g.

The fourth is quite different. A 45% cotton/42% wool/13% nylon yarn in various colours of white, grey, orange and blue. The yarn has been used for both the warp and weft and woven in a simple pattern. The scarf is 1700mm x 180mm and weighs 130g.

All four scarves will be on sale on my stall at the Perth Upmarket at UWA on Sunday 27 November.

Alpaca Design Yarns

Whilst on holiday recently in the Eastern States I purchased 300g each of Alpaca Design 8-ply alpaca yarns coloured in fushia and watermelon. The shop was in Berrimah, NSW.

I was hoping to get two scarves from each colour but found after weaving the first that I only had sufficient for the warp of the second. I used a grey possum/merino mix yarn for the weft of the second scarf in each colour. I used the same pattern for all four scarves.
The solid fushia scarf is 1780mm x 180mm and weighs 157g.The fushia and grey scarf is 1770mm x 150mm and weighs 120g. Despite being from the same warp as the first, the possum/merino weft had a high shrinkage so resulting in a narrower scarf. The possum/merino yarn is also much lighter than the 8-ply alpaca scarf.

The solid watermelon scarf is 1800mm x 180mm and weighs 153g.

The watermelon and grey scarf is 1770mm x 150mm and weighs 120g.

All four scarves will be on sale at Alpaca Plus, Douglas Road, Henley Brook.

Indigo blue silk

I wove an indigo blue hand-dyed silk scarf ready for the Perth Upmarket held on 2 October. It was 1910mm x 190mm and weighs 85g. It does have a pattern which is hard to see, but the pattern does give the scarf an interesting texture. This is my stall at the Perth Upmarket held at UWA on 2 October.
