Kureopatora and Tailored Strands yarn handwoven scarves

I seem to have jumped a  season since my last project as my latest scarves are based upon a mature green colour.  Noro Kureopatora #1004, a 100% wool yarn of varying light and dark colours, was used as the weft on a warp of  emerald green coloured Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca yarn.  The bands of Noro colours against the dark green gives a warm looking and warm feeling luxurious  scarves.  Nominally 1750mm x 190mm and weighing 150g, these two scarves are sure to please.

Wool and alpaca handwoven scarves

Following winter comes spring.  My latest scarves will enable you to imitate the new growth of spring.  Using a Noro Kureopatora yarn (100% wool) on a lichen coloured Tailored Strands 100% Australian  alpaca yarn gives the bands of basic bush colours seen in the Australian spring.  I leave it to the wearer to  add the colours of the spring flowers.  A choice of two patterns, each scarf is nominally 1820mm x 195mm and weighs 150g.

Scarves from Bendigo wool and Tailored Strands alpaca yarns

What do you do with a purple/pink multicoloured Bendigo sock yarn (70% merino, 30% nylon) and lavender and wisteria coloured Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca yarns?  Well, I have hand-woven two luxurious scarves using the Bendigo yarn as the warp and the lavender, and then the wisteria, Tailored Strands yarns as the weft.  Although both are in the same pattern they look so different.  The lavender tones in well with the purple/pink multi whilst the wisteria gives a strong contrast against the various colours in the Bendigo wool.  Both scarves are nominally 1800mm x 230mm and weighs 146g.

Memories of New Zealand

I  spent much of December last year in New Zealand.  As I always do on holiday I try to find a yarn as a souvenir of my trip.  This time I purchased three different colours of Countryside Yarns Happy Feet yarns, a 75% wool 25% nylon mix.
Well now I have three lovely scarves:  colours of the rain forest; colours of the lakes, fiords and waterfalls; and finally the colour of "Middle Earth", or maybe it could be the Canterbury Plains in a hot dry summer.  They are all nominally 1800mm x 185mm and weigh 130g.

Hand-woven Kureopatora wool scarves

Our wild flower season is approaching in Western Australia so I have hand-woven two colourful scarves to match our beautiful bush.  A wool yarn from Noro, Kureopatora, with an array of  yellows, reds and mauves, woven with a wisteria coloured Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca yarn, gives a spring colour warm and luxurious scarf of generous dimensions, being nominally 1850mm x 195mm and weighing 137g.

Scarves hand-woven using hand-painted wool and nylon yarn

What do you do whilst visiting Granville Island in Vancouver?  Besides buying a wide variety of fruit for our lunch I also purchased 2 x 100g skeins of hand-painted wool and nylon mix yarns.  I have now hand-woven these into two colourful scarves.  With the limited amount of yarn they are small scarves.   A green and red one is only 1260mm x 150mm and weighs 82g, and a blue and yellow one of 1410mm x 160mm and 89g in weight.
Jacket scarves, children scarves, call them what you like, but nevertheless memories of my holiday.  These to colourful unique scarves are now waiting for the right buyer.  See them soon at Aspects of Kings Park or The Artisan Store Fremantle, depending upon stock movement.

Lavender Tailored Strands alpaca handwoven scarves

I was getting ready for Wimbledon, but ran out of grass (or at least green), so now have to settle for the Dockers!  It would have gone done well last Saturday for my first trip to our new stadium.
In reality I have hand-woven two lavender coloured scarves using Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca.  Two patterns, two scarves, in soft feeling, warm luxurious alpaca.  Lovely for our chilly winter days.  Nominally 1800mm x 210mm and weighing 142g, they would be a delight to wear.
