Moda Vera Gentile hand-woven scarves

To add to my summer collection of scarves for the November Perth Upmarket I have woven two more scarves using Moda Vera Gentile yarns.  This is a 92% nylon and 8% lurex yarn.
The first scarf using colour #07 has been woven with a black wool weft and results in a striking elegant item that will adorn, but not warm, on those hot summer days and evenings.  The scarf is 1830mm x 260mm and weighs only 52g.

The second scarf is using colour #27 woven with a silver lame yarn as the weft.  This lightweight, sparkling and eye-catching scarf will be an exquisite accessory for that special summer occasion.

More Shamwani alpaca hand-woven scarves

In continuing to restock my friends running the Shamwani stall at the monthly Kalamunda markets I have hand-woven two more scarves.  I have used the natural coloured yarns from the Shamwani alpaca stud, so the items are 100% WA produced.
The first one is using a dark brown yarn which has a lovely soft silky feel about it.  The true colour is more like the general shots of the scarf rather than the close-up.  The scarf is 1820mm x 210mm and weighs 175g.

The second scarf is a light brown colour and the yarn a bit thicker.  This scarf is smaller, being 1570mm x 190mm and weighing 168g, but a lovely smart and soft touching item.

I am sure that the man in your life would like the soft and warm features of these scarves.  Maybe could be that beautiful present you are looking for Father's Day.

Hand-woven Shamwani Alpaca scarves

My friends at Shamwani Alpaca Stud run a stall at the monthly Kalamunda markets and over the last few months have successfully sold some of my scarves woven from their alpaca yarns.  It is time to restock them.
The first scarf is using their natural coloured white 4-ply alpaca yarn which results in a lovely soft touching scarf that will mix with any other colours you are wearing.  It is 1660mm x 215mm and weighs 169g.

The second scarf uses the same white yarn as the warp and a natural coloured light brown 4-ply alpaca yarn as the weft.  Again a lovely soft scarf results and will appeal to those who like to wear a bit of brown in their outfits.  The scarf is 1800mm x 215mm and weighs 167g.

Both scarves are in the same pattern and the two sides of the pattern are clearly shown in the two-coloured scarf.  Both will be on the Shamwani stall at the Kalamunda markets on the first Saturday of each month.

And now for summer

With an eye towards the November Perth Upmarket event, and the Australian summer, I have woven two scarves which are lightweight, colourful and eye-catching.  I believe they will make excellent accessories for that special person.
The first one is using Sirdar Firefly, shade 884, yarn which is 100% nylon as the warp and a thin Yeoman black wool yarn as the weft. It is 1840mm x 230mm and weighs only 57g.  The small pink, orange and light grey coloured squares on black will add that extra to your summer look.

The second scarf is using Moda Vera Gentile, colour 05, yarn which is 92% nylon/8% lurex as the warp and the same thin black wool yarn as the weft.  The scarf is 1840mm x 255mm and weighs 54g.  The black and silver colours in this scarf will be a perfect summer accessory for both day and evening activities.

The fringes have been left long on purpose.  The buyer will be able to trim them to their choice of length.

Hand-woven Noro Blossom #9 with more alpaca left-overs

I have hand-woven two more scarves using left-over alpaca yarns as the warp and Noro Blossom #9 yarn as the weft.  The common weft yarn in both scarves, Noro Blossom #9, consists of 40% wooll30% kid mohair/20% silk/10% nylon which results in a bulky but soft and multi-coloured yarn.   In the first scarf I have used light orange/dark orange/dark grey/mid-brown left-over alpaca yarns and used a plain (or tabby) weave.  The scarf is 1830mm x 235mm and weighs 166g.

In the second scarf I have used natural coloured alpaca yarns which are fawn/light brown/mid-brown/dark brown as the warp.  The scarf is 1840mm x 220mm and weighs 187g.

The lighter yarn dominates the appearance and unfortunately is not evenly spread across the scarf.  It will be interesting to see the public's reaction to the darker strip on one side of the scarf.  An error or a feature!

Noro Blossom #9 and left-overs hand-woven scarves

Continuing my clear-up of mainly left-over alpaca yarns I have placed them into groups of similar colours.  I have then used a colour group as the warp and woven a scarf using Noro Blossom #9 yarn as the weft.  The Noro Blossom yarn being 40% wool/30% kid mohair/20% silk/10% nylon together with the alpaca left-overs has resulted in lovely soft and colourful scarves.  The first, using pink/maroon/purple/blue left-overs, is 1890mm x 230mm and weighs 161g.

The second scarf, using light grey/dark/grey/blue left-overs is 1740mm x 225mm and weighs 162g.

It is interesting to see how different the two scarves are in colour despite using identical yarns for the weft.

And now for something different

When you weave you always have some left-overs yarns from each project and I have been reluctant to throw these away.  I decided it was time for a clear-out so picked out all my left-over alpaca yarns, and hey presto, I wove a multi-coloured 9m length of fabric 160mm wide weighing 506g.

You will have to watch this space to see what the seamstress comes up with!

Noro Cotton Kureyon hand-woven scarf

For a bit more colour I have hand-woven a scarf using Noro Cotton Kureyon #21 yarn which is 70% cotton/30% wool.  This item will appeal to those who prefer cotton products and like a bright colourful scarf that will certainly attract attention.  For the record the scarf is 1710mm x 185mm and weighs 179g.

Noro Blossom #14 handwoven scarves

For those of you that like a bit of colour I have woven two scarves using Noro Blossom #14 yarn.  This yarn is a mixture of 40% wool, 30% kid mohair, 20% silk and 10% nylon so it has a range of textures besides colour.   The resultant scarves are bulky feeling, warm, soft and colourful.   One scarf is 1880mm x 200mm and weighs 159g whilst the second scarf is 1700mm x 200mm and weighs 153g.  The first buyer will have the choice of the long or shorter scarf.

Noro Tanabata handwoven scarf

I was sent 200g of Noro Tanabata #7 yarn from a friend in Japan.  Being a blend of 33% cotton, 27% nylon, 17% rayon, 16% wool and 7% silk it is a very interesting yarn as it has a wide range of colours and textures.  The resultant hand-woven scarf is a bulky but soft, colourful and fashionable product 1830mm x 180mm and weighing 174g.  Who would not be proud to wear it?
