Hand-woven scarves using Full Circle Fibres cotton yarns

It is pleasing to be able to make a product which is 100% Australian made.  Full Circle Fibres grow the cotton in Queensland, have it spun in Victoria,  hand-dye it in Queensland, and then I have hand-woven it in Western Australia!
In the first scarf I have taken their ocean and cornflower dyed cotton and hand-woven them into a patterned scarf with the ocean as the warp and the cornflower as the weft.  The yarns are not solid dyed so some specks of white appear to add interest to the appearance.
In the second scarf I have used the jade coloured yarn as the warp and the crimson as the warp in an equally interesting pattern.
Both scarves are nominally 1830mm x 210mm and weigh 157g.  These scarves will appeal to cotton lovers, or those allergic to wool whilst proudly being 100% Australian.

Hand-woven Full Circle Fibres hand-dyed cotton scarf

If you like to buy 100% Australian products you don't need to look pass this latest hand-woven scarf.  Made from 100% Australian cotton yarns from Full Circle Fibres (FCF), it is grown in St George, Queensland, spun in Victoria, hand-dyed by FCF, and finally hand-woven by me in Perth, Western Australia.
The hand-dyed colours of fushia, charcoal and purple give an interesting mix of colours in a woven pattern.  If you are a cotton enthusiast you will love this scarf which is 1870mm x 215mm and weighs 155g.

Noro Kibou and Tailored Strands alpaca

Noro Kibou is a yarn made from 54% cotton, 34% wool and 12% silk.  This time I have hand-woven this yarn on a warp of Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca yarn coloured champagne.  A lovely soft coloured scarf emerges with interesting flashes of spring time colours.  The scarf is 1740mm x 190mm and weighs 143g.
I completed on the same warp a second scarf using the champagne alpaca as the weft besides as the warp.  A lovely patterned soft 100% alpaca scarf in a solid champagne (or oatmeal) colour.  Not only will it feel and look luxurious, it  will complement your darker favoured colours.  This one is 1730mm x 200mm and weighs 125g.

Full Circle Fibres with Noro Kibou handwoven scarf

Full Circle Fibres are spun from their own 100% Australian cotton.  I have  taken their hand-dyed coloured choc cotton yarn and used it as the warp on to which I have hand-woven Noro Kibou #7 (a 54% cotton, 34% wool, 12% silk mix).  The greens, browns and occasional reds and whites give the patterned scarf an interesting array of spring colours.  For cotton wearers this will be a treat if you can tolerate the small amount of wool and silk.  The scarf is 1830mm x 190mm and weighs 160g.

Hand-woven Noro Kureopatora scarves

It is always a challenge to pick one yarn to weave with another.  I am on edge to see how they blend as you start to weave and then you see your decision unfold before your eyes.  My latest match of Noro Kureopatora #1026 (100% wool) with mocha coloured Tailored Strands Australian alpaca is a winner.  I love the vibrant colours of the Noro yarn against the dark brown alpaca.  These scarves are not only beautiful to look at as they are also so soft and warm.  Indulge yourself and buy one now.  They are 1800mm x 180mm and weigh 140g.

Hand-woven scarves using Noro Kureopatora yarn

Do you want an eyeful of bands of bright colours?  This is what I have when hand-weaving Noro Kureopatora #1017 yarn (100%wool) with a lavender coloured Tailored Strands Australian alpaca.  Two similar looking scarves but with slightly different patterns.  These wool and alpaca scarves are sure to brighten up your winter days and keep you warm at the same time.  They are nominally 1740mm x 200mm and weigh 145g.

Two sock yarns in hand-woven scarves

As a bit of variation I have taken two sock yarns to put around your ears!
With Bendigo multicoloured sock yarn, purple pink multi (70% wool, 30% nylon), as the warp and Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn S43 (40% wool, 25% silk, 25% polyamide, 10% mohair) as the weft I have hand-woven two scarves in two different patterns.  They are a little short, being nominally 1650mm x 210mm and weighing 137g, but still long enough to wrap around your ears or in any other style that you like.  The varying thickness of the Noro yarn gives some interesting texture within the  woven pattern.  Two warm scarves for those winter days.

Noro Mossa #14 hand-woven scarf

Have you drunk the last of your summer wine?  I have just hand-woven the last of my stock of Noro Mossa yarns.  A mixture of 52% wool, 16% viscose, 11% mohair, 11% silk and 10% nylon, this yarn has an abundance of colours and textures.  Weaving it on a warp of lichen coloured Australian alpaca I have a bulky, soft, colourful, green based, long scarf of 1860mm x 205mm and weighing 166g.  And with all that you also have a patterned scarf with different appearances on each side.

More hand-woven scaves using Noro Kibou #15

I was a little apprehensive when I started using a dark blue cotton warp upon which to weave a weft of Noro Kibou #15 (54% cotton, 34% wool, 12% silk) yarn.  But whoa, what a spectacular result!
The two scarves, in slightly different patterns, are ablaze with an array of twinkling colours on a background of blue.  These soft touch scarves will be a pleasure to wear and are nominally 1730mm x 195mm and weigh 112g.
