Multicoloured handwoven alpaca scarves

What do you do when a friend's favourite cap is ...

Well you hand-weave a scarf in Australian alpaca yarn to match.  And whilst weaving one you might as well weave two - slightly different, of course, so each is unique.  I hope he likes it!

Each scarf is nominally 1880mm x 230mm and weighs 140g, and woven in tabby.

Hand-woven Bendigo Sock Yarn with alpaca

Having used up almost all my leftover yarns as I hand-wove scarves for the homeless during the coronavirus lockdown I had to decide whether to buy more stock.  Well I did!  10 different colours of Australian alpaca from Tailored Strands and 4 colours of Noro Kureopatora yarns.  I now have to find the time to weave again.

So I have used some of the new Royal Blue alpaca yarn as the weft on an ocean/purple multi coloured warp of Bendigo Sock Yarn, 70% merino wool, 30% nylon.   The two woven scarves in different patterns are soft feeling with an interesting variation in blue tones.  Both are nominally 1700mm x 210mm and weigh 140g.

Claret coloured handwoven alpaca scarves

Cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, merlot, but no claret available in our bottle shops.  Never mind, I can help you recall those good old times by providing a claret coloured 100% Australian alpaca hand-woven scarf to put around your neck.  And for a challenge the scarf design gives you the opportunity to embroider your company, sport club or personal logo on one or both ends.  If you like the challenge but the base colour is not to your choice, let me know and I can weave others to suit your taste.
Not adventurous, well these luxurious feeling scarves are smart looking in their current form and sure to please, being nominally 1880mm x 220mm and weighing 140g.

Scarlet alpaca handwoven scarves

Scarlet O'hara, scarlet alpaca.   The winds have all gone and it's all calm on the river today.  Well what else can I say to introduce you to my scarlet coloured alpaca scarves hand-woven from 100% Australian 2-ply yarns from Tailored Strands?
Striking colour, interesting patterns, luxurious feel, all in these lightweight scarves of 1500mm x 200mm weighing 98g.  Shorter than usual as I was using the last of my stock of this yarn, but nevertheless, a good size to tuck into your jacket or coat.

Ocean blue alpaca hand-woven scarves

Looking our of my apartment I have this glorious view looking upstream of the Swan River - a very peaceful view.  Sometimes still, sometimes rippling, sometimes churned up  by the wind.  At the moment in winter the river is brown looking but often in summer it is a lovely blue colour.  To remind me of the summer, and its warmth, I have hand-woven two ocean blue  coloured 100% Australian alpaca scarves from Tailored Strands yarn.
In two different patterns these luxurious feeling and appealing scarves will be popular, and give you a winter warm.  And each being nominally 1840mm x 215mm and weighing 163g you will have value for your money.

Noro Kibou hand-woven scarves

Noro Kibou is a yarn containing 54% cotton, 34% wool and 12% silk.  Its features are the striping colours that occur along its length so resulting in a variety of coloured bands.
I have hand-woven it on a fine light brown warp of Corriedale wool from Bilby Yarns, a Western Australian product. The warp is hardly noticeable against the thicker and colourful Kibou yarn.  Do these country colours and a scarf of 1650mm x 215mm and weighing 115g appeal?
In the second scarf I used a thicker (4-ply) mocha coloured alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands as the warp.  The darker warp gives a dominant background to the multiple colours in the Noro Kibou yarn and highlights the pattern.  Interesting how the background colour influences the overall impression of the scarf.  This will appeal to those that like longer scarves as this one is 1870mm x 200mm and weighs 150g.
