Royal blue Finnsheep handwoven scarves

Great Southern Wills is a law firm in Albany set up last year at the start of the coronavirus restrictions by my son's partner, specialising in Wills and Succession Planning.  As the background colour of her company logo and stationary is royal blue I wove her two royal blue coloured scarves for opening presents.

She liked them so much that she gave me a consignment for more.  After weaving 4 more I had run out of yarn but she still wanted two more.  However, my supplier of alpaca yarns, Tailored Strands, had also run out of their royal blue coloured 4-ply alpaca yarns, but luckily had this colour in their Finnesse range of yarns, a 85% Finnsheep 15% alpaca mix.  So two more scarves for GWS!

Seachange handwoven alpaca scarves

After a 5-day lockdown in Perth can I offer you a seachange?  Well, that is the colour of the 100% Australian alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands that I have just woven into two different patterned scarves.

A lovely colour, a lovely feel, and a choice of patterns.   You can brighten up those dull bleak winter days approaching.  Why not indulge in these 1800mm x 210mm, 145g scarves?

See them soon at Aspects of Kings Park or The Artisan Store Fremantle depending upon stock movement, or buy direct from the weaver.

Emerald green handwoven alpaca scarves

In these days of restricted international travel I bring you a memory of the Emerald Isle.  Ireland by another name.  Emerald green is the colour of the 100% Australian alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands that I have used to hand-weave two scarves.  A choice of two, one for you and one for him, if that is your fancy.  But is may be difficult to tell which one  is yours as they are in the identical pattern.  A subtle difference is that the weave on the two sides look different.  Can you spot it?

Lovely luxurious feeeling  alpaca to make your friends green with envy, oh, no. you will  be green!  Each scarf is nominally 1770mm x 210mm and weighs 148g.  See them soon at Aspects of Kings Park or The Artisan Store Fremantle depending upon stock movements.

Multicoloured handwoven alpaca scarves

What do you do when a friend's favourite cap is ...

Well you hand-weave a scarf in Australian alpaca yarn to match.  And whilst weaving one you might as well weave two - slightly different, of course, so each is unique.  I hope he likes it!

Each scarf is nominally 1880mm x 230mm and weighs 140g, and woven in tabby.

Hand-woven Bendigo Sock Yarn with alpaca

Having used up almost all my leftover yarns as I hand-wove scarves for the homeless during the coronavirus lockdown I had to decide whether to buy more stock.  Well I did!  10 different colours of Australian alpaca from Tailored Strands and 4 colours of Noro Kureopatora yarns.  I now have to find the time to weave again.

So I have used some of the new Royal Blue alpaca yarn as the weft on an ocean/purple multi coloured warp of Bendigo Sock Yarn, 70% merino wool, 30% nylon.   The two woven scarves in different patterns are soft feeling with an interesting variation in blue tones.  Both are nominally 1700mm x 210mm and weigh 140g.
