Indigo cashmere scarf

My latest scarf is a lovely indigo coloured cashmere using a 2-ply yarn from Knitter's Addition. The pattern is the same as that used in the previous grey alpaca scarves but due to the fine yarn in the current scarf the two scarves are very different. The scarf is long, lightweight and very soft being 1820mm x 205mm and weighing 75g.It will either be on sale at the Sometimes a pop-up shop at Floreat Forum or at the Perth Upmarket on 26 June at UWA.

Grey alpaca scarves

My latest weaving has resulted in two identical scarves using a grey alpaca yarn from Shamwani Alpaca. They are both long and soft, being 1820mm x 195mm with one weighing 170g and the other 174g.One will be on sale on the Shamwani Alpaca stall at Kalamunda Market and the other at Sometimes a pop-up shop at Floreat Forum.

White alpaca

Have knocked up two identical scarves using a white alpaca yarn from Shamwani Alpaca. Both are 1770mm x 200mm, but one weighs 161g and the other 154g. Both are very soft and lovely to touch.One will be on sale at the Shamwani Alpaca stall at Kalamunda, the other will be at Sometimes a pop-up shop in Floreat Forum.

Maroon and beige cashmere

Have just completed a maroon and beige coloured scarf using 2-ply cashmere from Knitter's Addition. The pattern results in a different colour predominating on each side. The scarf is long and soft, being 1880mm x 200mm and weighs 81g. See it at Sometimes a pop-up shop at Floreat Forum.

Grey cashmere shawl

Have just completed a grey cashmere shawl using 2-ply yarn from Knitters Addition. It is lightweight, soft, but a bit fagile. The long loops in the design are prone to being pulled if care is not taken during handling and wearing of the scarf. The scarf is 1800mm x 480mm and weighs 191g. It will be on sale at the Sometimes a pop-up shop at Floreat Forum.

Tangerine and white cashmere

Two more scarves using 2-ply cashmere from Knitters Addition. The first is in a solid tangerine colour and is 1680mm x 220mm and weighs 86g. The second is a tangerine and white scarf which is 1600mm x 210mm and weighs 80g. The pattern is of my design.Both scarves will be on sale at the "Sometimes a pop-up shop" at Floreat Forum.

Sometimes, a pop-up shop

Sometimes, a pop-up shop, has opened for 3-months at Floreat Forum. It is located in a prominent position, the first shop as you walk from the two-storey carpark to enter the shopping centre. I have arranged for my scarves to be on sale there. The photo below shows my display of cashmere and alpaca scarves at this venue.

Perth Upmarket

I attended the Perth Upmarket at UWA on Sunday 20 March 2011. This shows me at my stall.

Shamwani alpaca

I have used up my remaining natural coloured Shamwani alpaca yarns by weaving a long stripped scarf in dark brown, light brown and white as the warp. The weft was an off-white 40% possum/60% merino. The scarf is 2100mm x 200mm and weighs 127g.

It will be on sale on my stall at Perth Upmarket next Sunday at UWA.

Natural coloured alpaca x 2

Have just completed two scarves using two different 4-shaft patterns. The first is in a natural off-white alpaca yarn using a Canvas pattern. It is 1820mm x 200mm and weighs 170g. It is a long and bulky scarf but extremely soft.

The second is in a natural grey alpaca yarn using a Bronson Lace pattern. It is 1620mm x 200mm and weighs 150g. Not quite so soft as the first but still nice to touch, and a lovely shade of grey.

Both these natural coloured yarns are from Shamwani Alpaca Stud and the scarves will be on sale at my stall at Perth Upmarket on 20 March.

Fawn and white alpaca

Using alpaca yarn from Shamwani Alpaca Stud I have woven one scarf in fawn and white, and a second in fawn. The fawn and white scarf is 1570mm x 200mm and weighs 127g.

The fawn scarf is longer at 1840mm x 205mm and weighs 120g. The lighter weight of the second is due to using a looser weave. The fawn scarf does have a pattern but it is hard to see.

Both scarves are very soft and will be on sale at my stall at the Perth Upmarket at UWA on 20 March.

Last of the Italian alpaca

The latest scarf has been woven using up the remaining black, white and fawn Italian alpaca yarn as the warp. The weft is a grey alpaca yarn from Shamwani Alpaca Stud. It is a long scarf being 1980mm x 220mm and weighs 154g.

Black and grey Italian alpaca

My latest woven item is a long wide scarf using a black and a grey Italian alpaca yarn. The two tone patterned scarf looks very smart and is soft to touch. The scarf is 1850mm x 340mm and weighs 203g.

It will be on sale on my stall at the Perth Upmarket at UWA on 20 March.

Italian cashmere

When in Rome recently I purchased 100g each of a blue and a green Grignasco (Italian) cashmere. I have woven the blue yarn in my own design as used in the previous scarf. The scarf is 1450mm x 190mm and weighs 85g.

The green yarn was woven in a different pattern but being a dark green, the pattern is hard to see. The scarf is 1430mm x 180mm and weighs 81g.

Both scarves are very soft, as you would expect from cashmere, and will be on sale at my stall at the Perth Upmarket on 20 March.

Black and white Italian alpaca

Have completed two more scarves using the Italian alpaca yarns purchased in Rome. Both are using my design used in the previous scarf.

The first one is using a white warp and a black weft. This shows up the two different patterns on each side. The scarf is 1540mm x 195mm and weighs 122g.

The second scarf is all in white and is 1540mm x 195mm and weighs 100g. The lighter weight is due to using a more open weave.

White and pumpkin alpaca

I have woven a scarf using the left-overs of some natural white, and hand-dyed pumpkin, yarns from Alpaca Plus. The scarf is woven in a pattern I designed whilst on my recent cruise on the Athena from Rome to Fremantle. Both sides of the scarf have an interesting pattern. The scarf is 1480mm x 180mm and weighs 123g.

Being made from yarns from Alpaca Plus the scarf is very soft. It will be on sale at my stall at Perth Upmarket on 20 March at UWA.

Fancy yarn with cashmere

I have woven 3 scarves based upon a Diamist F-mole yarn, which is a fancy synthetic yarn in acrylic, rayon, nylon and polyester. I used this yarn as the warp in the first two scarves, and then the leftovers as the weft in the third. The weft in the first scarf was a maroon cashmere and resulted in a long scarf 2020mm x 170mm and weighs 99g.

The second weft was a heather (grey) cashmere and also resulted in a long scarf 1960mm x 170mm and weighs 92g.

In the third scarf I used alternate maroon, grey and orange warps. The scarf turned out to be 1450mm x 220mm and weighs 85g.

It is interesting to see the differences in the three scarves based upon the Diamist F-mole yarn. All the cashmere was 2-ply yarn from Knitters Addiction. The three scarves will be on sale at my stall at Perth Upmarket at UWA on Sunday 20 March.

More Italian alpaca

Have just completed two scarves using some of the Italian alpaca yarn recently purchased in Rome in the same Huck pattern in Anne Dixon's book as per the previous scarf. The blue and grey mixture scarf is 1630mm x 205mm and weighs 120g.

The solid blue scarf is 1470mm x 205mm and weighs 111g.

Both scarves will be on sale at my Perth Upmarket stall at UWA on Sunday 20 March.
