A red/orange multi coloured sock yarn from Bendigo Woollen Mills (70% superwash merino wool and 30% nylon) has been used as the warp in two scarves. A natural coloured fawn wool yarn has been used as the weft in one scarf whilst a red possum/wool yarn has been used in the second. Despite using the same pattern, two distinct scarves have resulted. What a marked difference occurs when changing the colour of the weft! Two interesting, mainly wool, scarves, which are nominally 1690mm x 220mm and weighing 130g.

Claret and grey handwoven alpaca scarves
After weaving these two scarves I thought "what a perfect pair for a his and a hers". Woven using claret and grey colours in the range of Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca, and in the same pattern, the change from a claret weft to a grey weft results in a striking pair of scarves. Alpaca at its best, with a strong claret colour against a grey. With both being nominally 1830mm x 220mm and weighing 146g, they make an excellent matching pair.

Teal coloured Tailored Strands alpaca handwoven scarf
Is it green or is it blue? Well, Tailored Strands call this 100% Australian Alpaca yarn by the name Teal! A colour suitable for both ladies and gentlemen, this scarf has the lovely soft feel of alpaca and the pattern gives it an interesting texture. A luxurious warm scarf for those cold nights and days. For those interested it is 1820mm x 215mm and weighs 145g. See it soon at Aspects of Kings Park or the Artisan Store Fremantle depending upon stock movements.
