Lavender and wisteria Tailored Strands alpaca hand-woven scarves

My two-tone alpaca scarves are proving popular so I have woven two more.  This time I have used the Lavender and Wisteria coloured 4-ply yarns in the Tailored Strands alpaca range.  Woven in two different patterns these finished soft touching scarves remind me of spring-time.   A lovely item       for my northern hemisphere friends!

A second hand-bag from hand-woven tartan fabric

This is the second hand-bag made from the bolt of tartan fabric which I hand-wove in early December.  The tartan fabric is from hand-dyed merino wool and is paired with a raspberry coloured cotton canvas whilst the inside is lined with a grey nylon shantung.

A small hand-bag but featuring an outside zipped pocket with a further well placed 3 open pockets inside.

Hand-made hand-bag from hand-woven tartan fabric

Earlier this month I showed you a piece of tartan patterned fabric which I had just woven.

Well, now some of this material has been used to make a hand-made hand-bag.  It features an external flap pocket on one side and an internal zipped pocket on the other side.  Another zipped pocket on the inside and many varied size open pockets also inside.  With a leather base, this is a very functional bag, well made and fashionable.

Teal and grey alpaca hand-woven scarves

In recognition of the Christmas period I have woven a forest of Christmas trees.

Well its the best I could do!
In fact I have woven two alpaca scarves in Teal and Grey from the range of 4-ply alpaca yarns from Tailored Strands.  Both are soft touching scarves that are sure to keep you warm on those cold winter days.  And both are nominally 1810mm x 220mm and weigh 146g.

I expect them to be on sale at Aspects of Kings Park or The Artisan Store Fremantle depending upon stock movement.

One more tartan piece

With the success of my earlier piece of hand-woven tartan fabric I have woven a second piece.  This one is mainly hand-dyed red and black merino yarns with a little grey and white.  The piece is much more tightly woven than the first so its size is only 940mm x 460mm and weighs 155g.  The fabric will be made into a hand-made hand-bag(s) so I will show you the finished product(s) in due course.

Hand-woven scarf in Noro Mossa and merino

To prepare for Christmas I have hand-woven a brightly multi-coloured scarf with lots of red.  The warp is a hand-dyed grevillea coloured merino yarn whilst the weft is Noro Mossa #8 yarn, a 52% wool, 16% viscose, 11% mohair, 11% silk, 10% nylon blend.  The various bands of colour in the Noro Mossa wool together with the strong red warp gives the scarf a real warm look.  But it not only looks warm but feels warm with the fluffy bulk texture of the yarns.  Bring your Christmas alight with this scarf.

Tartan on your mind

Apparently tartan is all the rage in Japan this winter.  Consequently I have been asked by Hiroko to weave some tartan patterned fabrics for her to use in her hand-bag making projects.  This is my first effort using hand-dyed merino wool and it is 1840mm x 450mm and weighs 225g.  I will show you the hand-bags when they have been made.

Vectis Ori at Perth Upmarket

On Sunday 30 November Vectis Ori had a stall at Perth Upmarket held at UWA.  My stall featured my hand-woven scarves, garments and hand-bags from our hand-woven fabrics and needle-felted animals.  Do you like the reindeers making a special appearance?

 
 

Noro Mossa hand-woven scarf

After a white Christmas with my last scarf I now bring you a Merry Christmas with a brightly multi-coloured scarf.  I have used Noro Mossa #9 yarn, a 52% wool 16% viscose 11% mohair 11% silk 10% polyamide blend, as the weft and an hand-dyed Fern coloured wool yarn as the warp.  The various bands of colour are assured to brighten up your Christmas.  This is a lovey bulky feeling scarf that will not only keep you warm on those cold winter days but be eye-catching at the same time.  In case you were interested it is 1840mm x 200mm and weighs 145g.

Ivory cashmere hand-woven scarf

I have done my best to give you a white Christmas.  An ivory white scarf hand-woven with Knitter's Addiction 4-ply cashmere yarn will have to be a substitute for the real thing. As soft as snow but much warmer!  Looks good, feels good.  Happy Christmas to you all. Oh, in case you were wondering the scarf is 1720mm x 200mm and weighs 132g.

Hand-woven tartan cashmere scarf

With memories of my recent holiday in Scotland I have hand-woven four colours (mauve, grey, green and white) of Knitter's Addiction 4-ply cashmere yarns into a tartan patterned scarf.  The interesting colour combination and pattern results in a soft-feeling and smart looking scarf.  It is 1480mm x 210mm and weighs 116g.
It will be on my stall at Perth Upmarket next Sunday, 30 November, at UWA.

Hand-woven recycled sari silk scarves

In May 2013 I went on the Himalayan Express tour arranged by Travel Directors.  Whilst in Katmandu I purchased several hanks of recycled sari silk yarn.  Off-cuts from silk sari production are reduced to the individual threads which are then re-spun making a thick, but multi-coloured, yarn.
I have now hand-woven two of these colourful yarns using a hand-dyed multi-coloured silk yarn as the warp.  The results are two thick hairy and colourful scarves.  Not fine silk, but nevertheless, silk scarves.
The first one is 1880mm x 200mm and weighs 227g.

The second one is 1660mm x 200mm and weighs 228g.

Emerald and lichen Tailored Strands alpaca hand-woven scarves

I have continued to use Tailored Strands Australian alpaca 4-ply yarns in my next project.  I have hand-woven two identical scarves in a pseudo-check pattern using emerald and lichen coloured yarns.  The interesting pattern is the same on both sides.  These are two gorgeous smart looking scarves, soft to the touch and eye-catching.  Do the colours match your outfit?  Both scarves are nominally 1820mm x 210mm and each weigh 141g

Hand-woven claret and grey Tailored Strands alpaca scarves

My two-colour hand-woven alpaca scarves are proving popular so I have woven two more.  I have repeated my own design again but this time using claret and the mid-grey colours in the Tailored Strands 4-ply alpaca yarns.  The two sides are in the reverse colours of the pattern  so give you the chance of highlighting the claret or grey colours.  Both scarves have that soft feel of alpaca as well as giving you that added colour to your outfit.  And both scarves are 1830mm x 230mm and weighs 152g.
