More Noro Silk Garden sock and Australian alpaca handwoven scarves

What a summer we have had in Australia.  It seemed that the whole country was on fire.  How devastating the scorched and blackened bush now looks.  But sitting at my loom weaving my latest scarves I was reminded of the beauties of  Australia.
The first scarf brought back memories of the rain forests in the Great Otway National Park, on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, and in the Kuranda region of Queensland.  Then with the second I was transformed to the earthy colours of the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Western Australia.  And all this coming from left overs of Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn (40 wool, 25 silk, 25 polyamide, 10 mohair) on a teal coloured 100% Australian Alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands.  These colours jump out from the two interesting patterns used, and the scarves are as warm and cosy as they look.  Each scarf is 1870mm x 200mm and weigh 142g.

Noro Silk Garden Sock and Australian Alpaca handwoven scarves

What shall I do today?  Weave 2 scarves.
What fibre shall I use?  Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn with 40% wool, 25% silk, 25% polyamide, 10% mohair.
What colour shall I use?  Colour S426, which gives stripped bands of greens, blues, orange, reds, etc.
And for the warp?  Let's use a mocha coloured 100% Australian alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands.
How about a pattern?  How about that one with pseudo circles and wavy chevrons.
After all this thought I got started, and guess what?  Two striking scarves with multiple coloured bands of colour on a dark background.  Looks good, feels good.

Noro Kibou hand-woven scarves

Why is it that for the last week I have been reminiscing on my various trips to Japan to see the cherry blossom.  A park in Kagoshima with a 1000 cherry trees in full bloom; historic Kyoto with streets lined with flowering trees.
Coming back to earth I realise that I am hand-weaving a Noro Kibou yarn with new growth colours on a warp of wisteria coloured 100% Australian alpaca from Tailored Strands.  The wisteria, or my cherry blossom, shimmering in the breeze in the two patterns that I have used.  Two delightful scarves with a special look and lovely feel.

Mango and salmon coloured handwoven scarves

Would you like ice-cream with that madame?  How many times have you been asked with all those desserts you have consumed over Christmas?  Well, I don't serve ice-cream with everything but I do tend to add alpaca to all my scarves!
This time a Noro Silk Garden Solo sock yarn, salmon coloured, and 40% wool, 25% silk, 25% polyamide, 10% mohair, has been hand-woven on a warp of mango coloured 100% Australian alpaca  yarn from Tailored Strands.  An interesting colour combination, even if not a culinary delight, but the swirls in the patterns reflects the salmon swimming in those raging rivers as they go upstream to spawn.  The bright mango colour makes these scarves warm looking and eye catching so brightening up your day.  Both scarves are nominally 1830mm x 200mm and weigh 142g.

Noro Kibou with alpaca handwoven scarves

Cotton, wool, silk or alpaca.  What is your favourite fibre?  Well this time you get a bit of each of these natural fibres.  Noro Kibou #16 yarn is 54% cotton, 34% wool, 12% silk and has been hand-woven on a warp of lichen coloured Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca.  The bands of new growth colours of the Noro Kibou yarn on the pale green alpaca yarn gives the impression of the awaking spring.  Soft colours on a soft feeling luxurious scarf.  With nominal sizes of 1830mm x 210mm and weighing 155g, it would be a lovely accessory to have on hand.

Claret coloured alpaca handwoven scarf

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and I bring you good cheer in the form of a  claret.  However, not a drink, but a claret coloured scarf in Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca.  A beautiful luxurious feeling scarf with longitudinal or horizontal lines depending upon which side you show.  Will be a pleasure to wear whilst impressing your peers.  Can you handle the size of 1860mm x 220mm and weighing 155g?

Emerald green alpaca handwoven scarves

I wove two red scarves recently so to complete the set for Christmas here are two green ones.  In fact in the emerald green coloured Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca yarn.  A soft luxurious feeling yarn in a popular colour with a choice of two patterns.  Too warm for our Australian summer but would be welcomed by your relatives and friends back in Europe or Northern America.
