Do you like long scarves? My latest hand-woven scarves are 1910mm x 220mm and 1870mm x 220mm! Not certain how that happened. Much less shrinkage when coming off the tension on the loom and from washing. Nevertheless, the scarlet coloured scarves in 2-ply alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands are amazing in colour, pattern and touch. Guaranteed to brighten up any fashion in your wardrobe.

Looking through my stock of yarns for something to weave I discovered enough of two colours of cotton yarns to make two scarves. I was a bit hesitate as the colours were yellow and a golden brown, not popular colours. I decided on a solid yellow scarf and one a mixture of the two colours. The enjoyment of weaving is watching the colours and patterns evolve before your eyes - two beautiful bright coloured scarves which reminded me of fields of sunflowers. Sorry, but the colours have not photographed correctly, they are real sunflower colours in reality. Sadly, at the completion of weaving the scarves I heard of the passing of my "little girl cousin", or she was when we were growing up on the Isle of Wight; a very special lifelong person to me and my family.
Jenny, these two scarves are so precious, and a memory of you. I will post them to your daughter and soon-to-be daughter-in-law on the Island.

A lovely light blue colour with a ting of silver, a silky crinkly yarn, so what do I do?
I hand-weave two adorable scarves in this beautiful light colour. They were woven in a pattern but the crinkly looped yarn takes over giving it its own texture in silver blue hues. Both scarves are nominally 1680mm x 215mm and in a lightweight of 103g.

Did you have left-overs after Christmas? From my last weaving project using three different colours of Noro Kureopatora yarns (100% wool) I did. So what do you do? Well, you take all the left-overs and use them altogether. In my case I have two more multicoloured banded scarves on a background of teal coloured 100% alpaca fibre from Tailored Strands. An array of colours in two different patterns in warm and cosy wool and alpaca. What a finale to the end of the year.

Using my third colour of Noro Kureopatora, a 100% wool fibre, I have hand-woven it with a mid-grey alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands as the warp. A different pattern is used in the two scarves but their colours are similar. Which pattern do you like? Lovely fresh looking multi-coloured scarves with a great feel from the 100% Australian fibres. The bands of colour are courtesy of the Japanese Noro brand.

Take two 100g balls of the same colour of Noro Kureopatora 100% wool yarn and weave one on a mocha coloured 100% alpaca yarn from Tailored Strands and the other on a champagne coloured alpaca yarn. What do you get? Two interesting different looking scarves. What a difference the two background colours make. Which is your choice? Oh, by the way, both the wool and alpaca yarns are from Australian grown fleeces.

Summer is around the corner and I have just hand woven two scarves using wool and alpaca!. Oh well, normally we would have visitors from the Northern Hemisphere visiting at Christmas who would be interested in such a product so maybe I will have to hold on to them till autumn.
