Sandstone handwoven cashmere scarf

At the recent Perth Upmarket I received a request for a longer sandstone coloured  hand-woven cashmere scarf than what I had on display.  Luckily I had some remaining white cashmere yarn so have been able to oblige.  This new scarf is 1920mm x 210mm  and weighs 86g so hopefully this will met the approval of the customer.  A lovely lightweight,  soft touching and smart looking scarf.

Two-tone blue hand-woven cashmere scarf

Ladies, this is what you can buy for that special man in your life:  A two-tone blue hand-woven cashmere scarf. In fact the two colours are sun orchid and mountain blue in the Landscapes range of dyes.  A smart business looking scarf with a luxurious feel that he will be proud to wear.  The chevron pattern will add to that business edge.  The scarf only weighs 79g and is 1800mm x 195mm.

And why not treat yourself to a matching coloured scarf in a diamond pattern?  After all, diamonds are a girls best friend!  This second scarf is slightly longer at 1830mm but is still 195mm wide and weighs 79g.

Stall at Perth Upmarket June 2015

On Sunday 21 June I had a stall at the Perth Upmarket held at UWA.  It was a cold, windy and wet day but luckily I was inside in Winthrop Hall.  Crowds were lower than usual due to the inclement weather but at least we more than covered our expenses.
The stall was stocked with hand-woven scarves, hand-bags made from our hand-woven fabrics and cross stitching embroidery, beanies made from hand-woven fabrics and needle felted animals.   Interestingly handbags were popular this time with little interest in the usual top-selling needle felted animals.

The next Perth Upmarket is scheduled for Sunday 13 September.  Unfortunately I will not be able to attend since I will be in the UK joining four other school class-mates travelling down the Avon canal.

Scarf in handwoven Millane MG yarn

Do you want that something special to set off your wardrobe?  With this in mind I have hand-woven two scarves from Millane MG yarn, colour #718.  This is a 60% rayon, 40% polyester yarn with a gold glitter metallic look.  Both scarves are short and narrow so that they accentuate your neckline without being bulky.  One is 1250mm x 145mm and weighs 43g whilst the other is 940mm x 145mm and weighs only 37g.

Wild raspberry handwoven cashmere scarf

If you want a deep rich coloured luxurious scarf then look no further.  This hand-dyed wild raspberry coloured hand-woven cashmere scarf is a lovely soft and patterned item that will be a pleasure to  wear.  Being 1800mm x 200mm and weighing 85g it is bound to keep you warm on these cold days and be the envy of your friends.  The colour in the close-up is too light but it does show the pattern.

Cyclamin handwoven cashmere scarf

Do you like wearing blue?  How about treating yourself to a lovely luxurious cashmere scarf hand-woven from a hand-dyed cyclamen coloured yarn.  The final colour has a bit more mauve in it than depicted in the photographs. The scarf has an interesting eight-shaft pattern and is 1650mm x 205mm and weighs 81g.

Orchid coloured handwoven cashmere scarf

After a cruise from Fremantle to Singapore visiting Bali, Brunei, Kota Kinabalu and Vietnam I am now home and commenced weaving again.
The first scarf I have hand-woven is in a cashmere yarn which has been hand-dyed coloured orchid in the Gaywool range of dyes.  A beautiful colourful patterned scarf with the luxurious touch of cashmere results.  A real eye-catching accessory 1800mm x 210mm and weighing 89g.

Bilberry and Wisteria Tailored Strands alpaca handwoven scarves

After a recent short flirtatious affair with synthetic yarns I have returned to those lovely soft Australian alpaca yarns from Tailored Strands.  What a delight to touch!  I have used the bilberry coloured yarn as the warp and the wisteria yarn as the weft in a four-shaft patterned weave.  I wove two scarves on the same warp with one being 1800mm x 220mm and weighing 142g whilst the second is a bit shorter at 1620mm x 220mm and weighing 132g.

Black Diamist NF handwoven scarf

I had 125g of a black Diamist NF nylon yarn left over from a previous project.  I decided to use this to weave two narrow and short scarves.   One is 1100mm x 130mm weighing 40g whilst the second is 1220mm x 130mm weighing 48g.

This dense black yarn glitters in the light due to the shiny nature of the nylon.  I find the scarf is a bit prickly to touch but it provides that classy look to your outfit.

My final Fantasia Ski Seraply handwoven scarf

I have used the two remaining colours of Fantasia Ski Seraply yarns , 100% nylon, together in an hand-woven scarf.  Colour #306 (deep reds, purples and blacks) was used as the warp and colour #305 (reds and pinks) as the weft.  A very fluffy scarf in dark reds, purple and black tones results with narrow longitudinal strips and wider bands of colour along the length.  This warm looking and soft scarf is 1510mm x 190mm and weighs 117g.

Another Fantasia Ski Seraply scarf

For the third yarn of Fantasia Ski Seraply yarn (100% nylon) I used colour #302, a range of greens and browns, with Filatura Di Crosa Butterfly yarn (50% kid mohair, 50% acrylic).  This time the furriness of the Fantasia yarn becomes more loose in the finished item giving it a nice fluffy look and feel.  The green and dark brown strips dominant with the woven pattern indiscernible in this 1700mm x 200mm scarf  weighing 126g.  If you like greens and browns this may be the scarf for you.

Fantasia Ski Yarn Seraply handwoven scarves

Whilst on holiday in Japan recently I was given five different colours of Fantasia Ski Yarn Seraply.  This is a novelty furry 100% nylon yarn.  I have now hand-woven two of the colours into scarves.
In the first I have used colour #304, a range of reds and pinks, as the warp and used a thin, similar coloured, wool yarn as the weft.  Unfortunately I ran out of the wool yarn too soon and the final scarf is only 1270mm x 190mm and weighs 85g. Nevertheless this short scarf will bring a flash of colour to your outfit and no doubt become fluffier as the fluffy fibres of the warp emerge from the weave.

In the second scarf I have used colour #307, a range of blues and blacks, as the warp and a thin blue mohair yarn as the weft.  Using a more loose weave this scarf is very soft and fluffy, and long, at 1770mm x 220mm and weighing 108g.  The coloured lengthwise strips overlaying a subtle pattern makes for an impressionable soft and lightweight accessory.

Moda Vera Babooska handwoven scarf

For my first project after my five week holiday I have hand-woven a Moda Vera Babooska yarn.  This is a 100% wool yarn of varying thicknesses and blue tones.  With the 200g of yarn available I used a tabby weave and achieved a scarf of 1530mm x 170mm weighing 171g.  Although it is a plain weave the varying thickness of the yarn produces an interesting texture in a range of blues.
