Noro Silk Garden Sock Yarn in a scarf

Would you wear socks from this so-called Sock Yarn?  But as an hand-woven scarf the yarn is a winner!.
I have used Noro Silk Garden Sock Yarn S418 as the weft on a natural coloured brown Western Australian Corriedale wool warp.  Two scarves in two patterns, with a lot of autumn tints, but with some bright red, green and blue tints.  These are nominally 1700mm x 200mm and weigh 118g.  The mix of 40% wool, 25% silk, 25% polyamide and 10% mohair with the thin Corriedale gives a lovely soft scarf, with a warm feel and look.

Hand-woven African Expressions Soul yarns

As a momento of a 10 day holiday in South Africa earlier this year I purchased 100g each of two African Expressions Soul yarns.  These yarns are a mixture of 50% merino, 15% mohair, 15% silk and 20% polyamide and are hand-painted in various colours.   I used both yarns as the warp but wove each in a different pattern and with different yarns.
In the first one, #7267H, I used a green coloured hand-dyed cashmere yarn as the weft with the green blending in well with the green in the warp.  The limited amount of cashmere available resulted in a  short scarf of 1340mm x 205mm, weighing 98g, but it is a lovely soft scarf in an interesting pattern and colour combination.
In the second scarf, with colour #7204H, I used a thin silver coloured fluffy silk yarn as the weft.  Whoa! what a scarf!  It is lovely and thin, so soft, and with a striking (no pun intended, but it does have arrow heads) pattern dominated by the silver silk.  And this one is long, being 1910mm x 210mm and weighing 109g.

Handwoven scarf using Noro Silk Garden Sock Yarn

I was a bit concerned about using a sock yarn for a scarf, but whoa, what a wonderful result!

I have used Noro Silk Garden Sock Yarn, #S426, as the weft on a silvery blue silk warp in two different patterns.  The Noro yarn is 40% wool 25% silk, 25% polyamide and 10% mohair.  The scarves are nominally 1800mm x 205mm and weigh 148g.

Two light and cool looking colourful scarves will give you such an uplift to your outfit.  You will be the envy of all your friends.

More Noro Taiyo Sport handwoven scarves

I have hand-woven another Noro Taiyo Sport yarn into 2 scarves each with a different pattern.  This time I have used the 60% cotton, 15% silk, 15% wool, 10% polyamide yarn as the warp so have longitudinal stripes, with a light brown silk weft.  So different to my usual Noro based scarves.  The cotton/silk/wool mix gives a cooler feeing with the eye-catching colours.  The scarves are a little shorter than usual, being nominally 1685mm x 200mm and weighing 126g.

Handwoven scarves in Noro Taiyo Sport #15 and silk

I am out of season again as I have hand-woven a cotton and silk scarf more appropriate for spring.  But luckily our clientele in Perth include overseas visitors from the Northern Hemisphere so they are going home to spring.
I have hand-woven Noro Taiyo Sport #15 yarn (60% cotton, 15% silk, 15% wool, 10% polyamide) on a hand-dyed lime green silk warp.  I have a choice of two patterns in these two scarves nominally 1820mm x 200mm and weighing 105g.  /The self striping Noro yarns give a range of spring-like colours with the cool feeling of cotton and silk.  Will they enhance your outfit with that individual touch?

Lavender inspired hand-woven Noro Mossa/alpaca scarves

One of my favourite  places is walking over the Heaton Warren from Totland Bay to Alum Bay on the Isle of Wight.  As you come over the top you suddenly have The Needles appear, and if  you do the walk in August you are also in a "sea" of heather. I am reminded of this walk by my latest two scarves.
I have used Noro Moss #11 (52 wool, 16 viscose, 11 mohair, 11 silk, 10 nylon) with a lavender coloured Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca yarn.  It has the two colours of the heather, the light shades of the sandy soils and speckles of  colour depicting the other fauna and flora of the heathland.  Besides that  they are lovely bulky, warm scarves for those winter days.  Oh, and if interested, they are nominally 1860mm x 200mm and weigh 160g.

Noro Mossa #16 and Tailored Strands mango alpaca hand-woven scarves

Oopps, have I got my seasons wrong?  In trying to clear out my stock of Noro Mossa yarns I realise that I have hand-woven scarves in Autumn colours.  But Autumn follows Summer so may not be too bad!
I have used a Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca yarn, coloured mango, as the warp and the Noro Mossa #16 yarn (52 wool, 16 viscose, 11 mohair, 11 silk, 10 nylon) as the weft.  In the two patterns used the mango warp winds its way along through the various striped autumn colours in the weft.  They look warm and these bulky feeling scarves, with their various textures and specks of colour, will certainly keep you warm.  One is 1730mm x 200mm and weighs 166g whilst the second is 1860mm x 200mm and weighs 177g.

Hand-woven scarves from Noro Mossa #1 and Tailored Strands wisteria alpaca

A little bit of Japanese, a little bit of Australian.  Actually I don't speak any of either but at least I can weave their yarns.  This time I have used Noro Mossa #1 yarn (52% wool, 16% viscose, 11% mohair, 11% silk, 10% nylon) as the weft on a Tailored Strands 100% Australian alpaca warp coloured wisteria.  Maybe winter colours but these bulky textured yarns will feel snug and warm.

Hand-woven scarf from Oz Hiroko's hand-spun merino yarns

I have taken nine different coloured merino yarns hand-spun by Oz Hiroko and hand-woven them into a longitudinal stripped scarf.  A natural coloured light brown Corriedale yarn was used as the weft.  Being 1780mm x 195mm and weighing 125g, this scarf will complement many of your outfits whilst keeping you snug and warm at the same time.
